The scheduler serves as a paid member of the campaign staff and reports directly to the Campaign Manager. The Scheduler is responsible for the candidate’s itinerary on a daily basis.
The Scheduler:
- Maintains the candidate’s daily, weekly and advance schedule, paying specific focus on events that will benefit the candidate as describe by the campaign.
- Distributes the candidate’s schedule to appropriate campaign staff.
- Participates in weekly scheduling meetings with key campaign staff personnel.
- Reviews invitations sent to the Campaign.
If the candidate is unable to attend, the scheduler will help arrange for a surrogate to attend.
If no surrogate is available, ascertain another avenue of communication (i.e. letter, video, etc…) with each and every group that sends an invite to the candidate.
- Receive and respond to calls regarding the candidate’s schedule.
- Proactively researches community events to identify opportunities for the candidate to attend key events.
- Ensure the compilation and preparation of briefing and/or other pertinent materials are completed and provided to the candidate in advance of the event.
- Files materials in their appropriate daily files following the event for future reference.
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with campaign staff, community groups, political organizations and the general public.
- Ensures that the candidate is accompanied and/or has advance personnel assigned to all events when appropriate.
§ Ideally, the scheduler will serve as the primary accompanying staff personnel.
