We are looking to hire a digital organizer / social media manager ASAP. The ideal candidate will have both an organizer’s mindset and strong technical skills. You know how to use — and can train others to use — social media, texting, databases, and spreadsheets to bring in new supporters and lead people up a ladder of engagement. You thrive in a fast-paced campaign environment, and can keep multiple projects moving, plan for and hit deadlines. You will work closely with our organizing and communications teams, and will have the opportunity to help flip one of the reddest states in the nation blue.
Responsibilities
Manage social media accounts to engage and grow our online community, including day- to-day content creation that is culturally relevant.
Write compelling, creative, engaging copy for all social media channels that amplifies our message with an emphasis on rapid response.
Stay attuned to current events and trending content in order to identify strategic engagement opportunities.
Help the fundraising team with social media fundraising efforts (like Facebook Fundraisers).
Set and deliver on ambitious social growth goals on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Create visually compelling and shareable graphics.
Build our base of supporters through digital advertising, organic social media, texting, and other digital tools.
Reach out to potential supporters, move them up a ladder of engagement, and deepen their leadership.
Manage data and tracking systems in collaboration with the Communications & Data director.
Work to help supporters share their stories through videos, images, writing, press interviews, etc.
Recruit new volunteers and prospects for digital (and eventual on-the-ground) organizing and help empower them to take action.
Qualifications
You know how to run Facebook ad campaigns and/or other paid digital programs.
You can create compelling graphics and videos for social media using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar tools.
You’ve likely used (or been wanting to try out) a good number of these tools: CRMs (ActionNetwork, EveryAction, NationBuilder), texting (Hustle, ThruText, Strive, Spoke), relational organizing (OutreachCircle, Reach, Team), online advocacy (New/Mode, Phone2Action), story collection (Soapboxx, Flipgrid).
You know your way around Excel and Google Sheets, and can build data tracking systems that keep organizing programs moving — and make sense to organizers.
You get that ultimately, organizing is about building connections and relationships. You believe that technology should be in service of organizing, not the other way round.
