Combined Jewish Philanthropies, a progressive and innovative federation dedicated to building, strengthening and maintaining an open, welcoming and vibrant Jewish community, has an opening for an Development Officer, Affinities.
The Development Officer, Program for Affinities will be an integral part of a dynamic team of professionals who are working to maximize volunteer and donor participation in CJP’s Annual Campaign through involvement in one of CJP’s professional affinity groups. The Development Officer, Program will design and implement a strategic business plan for affinity groups, including the development of goals and objectives, optimizing events and leadership engagement opportunities, facilitating the expansion of dollars raised, increasing the donor base, and identifying new areas for expansion. Additionally, he/she will manage a portfolio of approximately 200 donors, each of whom make an annual gift of $1,000 or more (including major gifts) or have the capacity to make an annual gift at that level.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Work in partnership with Affinity leadership to plan, coordinate
and implement committee meetings, programs, and events designed to
increase number of dollars and donors to CJP’s Annual Campaign;
• Work
in partnership with campaign leadership leaders to identify, engage,
educate, solicit, and steward current and potential donors;
• Identify, secure and educate prospects to be campaign leadership for particular affinity;
• Work
in partnership with Senior Development Officer, Fundraising to identify
donors and prospects with capacity for increased giving;
• Individually
develop, oversee and implement strategies for cultivation, solicitation
and stewardship of approximately 200 donors;
• Personally solicit donors for gifts to the Annual Campaign
• Performs other duties as required with or without accommodation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
• B.A. or equivalent
Experience:
• Two years successful experience in development or
related field, with an emphasis on annual campaign work and donor
relations.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
• Strong communication, interpersonal and writing skills.
• Proficient in Windows environment, including MS Word, Excel, Database and Internet.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Skills/Competencies:
• Ability to work creatively and flexibly in a dynamic environment and self motivated.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Capacity to manage and organize information confidentially.
• Ability to work successfully within a strong systems and process-based organizational structure

• Knowledge of the Jewish community preferred.
