Organization Overview

Aim Higher Now works to engage and educate citizens about issues of public concern, and to hold elected officials accountable to the values that have made North Carolina great. These include investment in public schools and universities, expanded access to the ballot, the protection of our natural resources, and economic opportunity that benefits all citizens. We encourage the active participation of citizens in government by communicating directly with people in their communities through data-driven, strategic field and digital programs.

Position Description

Aim Higher Now is seeking highly motivated candidates to serve as Organizers in Raleigh, Charlotte, Greensboro, and Wilmington. Organizers will focus on issue advocacy, voter engagement, and building long-term organizing capacity.

Organizers will report to their respective Regional Organizing Directors and will focus on day-to-day field operations in their assigned turf. Organizers will be responsible for implementing a portion of the field plan, recruiting, training and managing fellows, interns and volunteers, and will be held accountable to quantitative and qualitative field and movement building metrics. Ideal candidates must be able to complete tasks on tight deadlines.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

● Recruiting, training, and building volunteer teams who will participate in and lead voter contact and other community engagement activities.

● Engaging in direct voter contact through canvasses, phone banks and events.

● Developing and conducting leadership and activist trainings.

● Educating and engaging the public through grassroots outreach.

● Assisting Regional Organizing Director in developing relationships with key community leaders, allied organizations and coalitions to build a base of support within the region.

Qualifications:

● Candidates must have a knowledge of and strong commitment to progressive causes.

● Candidates must have a general understanding of how power intersects with gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and class in organizing and electoral settings.

● Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, experience meeting deadlines, and the ability to manage many tasks simultaneously.

● Demonstrated commitment to working in a team environment and doing everything possible to make the team successful.

● Experience managing volunteers is a plus.

● Experience organizing in North Carolina is a plus.

● Ability to travel and access to a vehicle is required.

● Willingness to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, as necessary is required.

Compensation

The annual salary for this position is $40,000. Benefits include paid vacation and sick leave, health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
