Position Summary


Progressive Turnout Project seeks Field Representatives for the 2017 Virginia legislative elections. This is a great, entry-level position for recent graduates or simply people with a passion for politics. Field Representatives will organize specific communities of voters in an effort to create a Voter Turnout Movement that elects Democrats and progressives. Field Representatives work with Virginia Regional Directors and receive extensive training in campaign strategy, messaging, and voter contact techniques.


Field Representatives are the face of PTP’s effort to connect with targeted Democratic voters and get them to the polls. The ideal candidate is comfortable going door-to-door having conversations with Democratic voters. PTP is hiring Field Representatives in the Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia, and Richmond regions to start in mid-June and work through the election in November 2017.


This is a full-time position that pays $2,500 per month. Benefits include participation in PTP’s group health insurance plan as well as a monthly travel stipend.


Qualifications


• Passion for electing Democrats and progressives

• Ability to meet deadlines and goals

• Proficiency in Google Docs and Microsoft Office

• Access to a vehicle (frequent travel within district)

• While not a pre-requisite to the job, prior campaign experience is a plus


Job Duties and Requirements


• Report to Regional Director, organize voters in assigned community

• Canvass, make phone calls, enter data, and occasionally attend community events

• Maintain professionalism and sincerity, especially when speaking with voters
