Deputy Organizing Director:
Deputy Organizing Directors will be responsible for helping implement voter contact and volunteer recruitment programs statewide, as well as directly managing Regional Organizing Directors. Iowa’s 2020 Coordinated Campaign includes a targeted U.S. Senate race to defeat Joni Ernst, four competitive congressional races, opportunities to flip control in the Iowa legislature, and elect Democrats at the local level in all of Iowa’s 99 counties. This is a general election position through November 15 and reports to the Organizing Director.
Responsibilities Include:
● Develop strategies and systems that lead organizing staff to successfully meet daily, weekly, and phase metric goals
● Hire, train, and coach Regional Organizing Directors in developing specific DVC and volunteer recruitment tools and tactics
● Work collaboratively to set goals, plan ahead, and solve large-scale organizing challenges
● Work with other departments to create programs and support structures for the organizing department
● Help develop and implement a statewide GOTV program, as well as constituency, training, youth, campus, and rural initiatives
● Execute other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
● 2+ years of campaign experience in the organizing department including at least one cycle managing staff
● Experience coaching staff and interacting with volunteers
● Strong communication skills and ability to communicate priorities, needs, and expectations up and down a chain of command
● Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively and clearly communicate with different stakeholders● Experience meeting deadlines, and the ability to manage many tasks simultaneously
● Access to a vehicle, as well as a valid driver’s license
● Aptitude for data analysis; proficiency with VAN and Google Sheets
● Capacity and desire to work in a rapidly changing and fast-paced campaign setting
