Once again, Generation Obama-Washington DC (VA/DC/MD) and Democratic GAIN - Grassroots Action Institute & Network (http://www.democraticgain. org/) would like to invite you to join fellow sophisticated progressives of all ages to celebrate summer and Hill recess as well as meet one another at the great DC tradition of Jazz at the National Gallery of Art's Sculpture Garden! At this event GO will be officially launching our Career Networking Team that will provide members a support and information-sharing group for DC-area progressives looking for a new direction.

We also will raffle off some VIP passes to DC Improv!

BTW, last time a flurry of miscommunication about what sounded like imminent severe thunderstorms caused us to pre-emptively move the event to Rocket Bar even though it never rained - we apologize for any inconvenience and will do a better job braving the weather this time!

IMPORTANT NOTES:
- This is a great visibility and networking opportunity so feel free to wear the shirt, sticker, button or hat of your favorite campaign or cause. It will also make it easier for us to find each other. Plus, bring an umbrella just in case!
- Feel free to bring your own picnic or buy food/beverages (including their legendary sangria) at the café or inside/outside vendors.
- We will be meeting with signs in the sculpture garden at 6pm and ONLY IF IT POURS we will go as a group to Bar Louie at 701 7th St NW @ Gallery Place.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please bring a laptop if you can for online phone banking and other on-site online collaboration because Cosi has FREE Wi-Fi.

After our big Progressive Summer Happy Hour we will get together on Sunday to volunteer for Health Care Reform then meet to strategize on upcoming activities and organize some long-term initiatives as well.

There is lots of petitioning/flyering, phone banking and letter writing to do to gather support in this critical state with two swing senators for President Obama's health care initiatives so please come early at 12pm or anytime through 4pm or later to volunteer (even if you want to volunteer during the meeting).

During the planning meeting with special guest Virginia Young Democrats' Executive Director Toby Quaranta we will discuss upcoming plans (including OFA/VAYD campaigning, a low-dollar fundraiser and "250 Days" Celebration) as well as delegate Communications, Membership, Operations and other tasks to get us ready for a big September/October. Before and after the Planning Meeting we will have also have team and individual meetings/activities to move projects forward.

GO-DC Teams include Advocacy/OFA, Service/White House, Campaigns, Fundraising, Leadership Development, Career Networking, Communications/New Media, Ambassador/Outreach, Social-Recruitment/Membership, Operations and VA/DC/MD. SIGN UP FOR THESE TEAMS VIA THE GOOGLE GROUPS BELOW!

GO-DC's Sunday Planning Meetings/Volunteer Days will continue weekly through Health Care Reform, Virginia Election Day and the completion of our GO-DC leadership transition efforts.
