PRESS & RESEARCH ASSISTANT – Virginia House Democratic Caucus

The Virginia House Democrats are seeking a Press and Research Assistant to provide support to our communications shop for the 2019 campaign. This is a campaign cycle position, ending on November 30, 2019, and based in Richmond, VA.

The Press and Research Assistant’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

·           media monitoring

·           media list management

·           press event staffing

·             extensive writing

·             social media management

·             background research

There is a heavy administrative component to this job, but there is also unlimited opportunity to draft meaningful written content. The Press and Research Assistant will also work directly with our campaigns on behalf of the Communications Director. Above all, the Press and Research Assistant must be a strong writer with a sharp eye for detail.

The ideal candidate has a proactive and dedicated work ethic, and is also detail-oriented and proficient in social media, Microsoft Office, and internet research. This is a tremendous opportunity for a recent college grad to gain substantive campaign experience within a team that is deeply committed to the values and ideals of the Democratic Party.

Applicants should be prepared to work long hours, be based in Richmond, and have access to a vehicle. Excellent writing skills are a must.

Pay is commensurate with experience. Health insurance provided. To apply, send a resume, writing sample, and cover letter to in...@vahousedems.org -- please make your subject line "Press/Research Assistant."

The Virginia House Democratic Caucus is a diverse group, committed to achieving a majority in the House of Delegates. We encourage all to apply, regardless of race, color, gender, class, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, national origin, ancestry, age, veteran status or absolutely anything else that does not directly impact your ability to do your job.
