The Inspired Teacher Certification Program
The Inspired Teacher Certification Program recruits, selects,
prepares, and supports exceptional individuals who wish to serve the
children of the District of Columbia as teachers. Inspired Teaching is
looking for individuals who aspire to teach in one of the following
areas: Early Childhood (PK-3), Elementary (1-6), or English Language
Arts (7-12). For the 2011-2012 program year, the Inspired Teacher
Certification Program is accepting applications for the following two
tracks: Early Childhood and Elementary.
Inspired Teaching Fellows complete certification requirements while
working as full-time lead teachers in traditional or charter public
schools. Enrollment in the program makes participants eligible for a
Regular I license, which provisionally certifies participants to teach
while completing certification requirements. After successful
completion of the full 15-month program, Inspired Teaching Fellows are
eligible for a Regular II teaching license. The Inspired Teacher
Certification Program is state-accredited to prepare college graduates
for licensure in the District of Columbia. Reciprocity agreements
exist with other states as well.
