Campaign Field Director

SUMMARY

Baltimore based civic and business leader seeks part-time or full-time person to serve as Campaign Field Director for an upcoming political campaign. This position is based in Baltimore City and requires availability during weekends and evenings.

DESCRIPTION & DUTIES

As the Campaign Field Director your role will include several core duties including serving as a special assistant to accompany the candidate to meetings, events and other functions. A rigorous daily schedule (including many weekends) will begin early and end late in Baltimore City near the Johns Hopkins University campus. The special assistant will receive tremendous exposure to Baltimore City politics and work extremely closely with the candidate, staff, other elected officials and voters. You will regularly exercise independent judgment to screen, prioritize and respond to calls, e-mails, texts, etc. throughout the day.

You should be someone who is a good writer, copy editor, listener. You should also be capable of navigating challenging political environments, know how people and organizations function, anticipate potential problems and a creative problem solver. You must have demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities and maintain a sense of humor. You must be capable of handling confidential and sensitive information.

Additional duties will include managing manage the candidate’s daily schedule, events and logistics.

REQUIREMENTS

A valid driver's license and good driving record.

The ability to pass a criminal background and credit check as applies to job duties.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Excellent time management and analytical skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

You must be able to lift and carry objects weighing 30+ pounds.

Represented campaign political events in the community.

Excellent phone demeanor.

Ability and energy to work long campaign hours

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

Prior campaign experience.

Familiarity with grassroots organizing and policy work

Ability to recruit and mobilize individuals and organizations.

Experience recruiting and managing volunteers.

Maintained and updated tracking database for infrastructure and volunteer.

Drafted campaign field plan and organized field events.

Planned and implemented visibility efforts for target districts.

Organized events to sign up and recruited supporters and volunteers.

Completed reports summarizing results from electoral strategic plan.

Planned and executed field operation.

COMPENSATION

Salary is $31k plus expenses. This is a temporary role, not a permanent position.
