SD SEED, trade association dedicated to supporting a highly-trained and professional workforce in San Diego's construction industry with support from IBEW, UA, SMART, and Iron Worker local unions, is seeking a
director of government relations who will take ownership over
developing, coordinating, and implementing government affairs strategies
and activities that advance SD SEED's interests. This position will
lead SD SEED's local government relationships across San Diego County.
Responsibilities
- Develop SD SEED's government relations program;
- Provide excellent legislative and regulatory advocacy focused on local governments;
- Develop, build, and expand relationships with key government officials;
- Represent
SD SEED before elected officials and other local government agencies,
commissions, and authorities, and represent SD SEED at community events
and other external functions;
- Maintain expertise over the local politics of different cities in the region;
- Provide insightful election and campaign guidance to SD SEED leadership.
Qualifications
- 4+
years experience in government, lobbying, political or management
consulting, in-house government relations, or political communications;
- Demonstrated propensity to roll up your sleeves and do the hard work, build meaningful relationships, and solve problems;
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion while operating with integrity and the highest standards for ethics;
- Commitment to community improvement, workforce development, and social justice;
- Bachelor's degree or higher;
- Experience lobbying legislative and/or regulatory bodies preferred.
