United Council of UW Students
Start Date: July 2011
Type: Full-time, 40+ hours, weekend work, and late hours
Salary: $26,800/year
Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays, health and dental insurance
Location: Madison, WI with frequent in-state travel

Organization Description
United Council of UW Students is a coalition of 22 UW campuses,
representing over 150,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional
students. Founded in 1960, United Council is a non-partisan, non-
profit, student-directed organization committed to enhancing the
quality of student life and protecting access to higher education in
Wisconsin. United Council’s mission is to represent all students of
the University of Wisconsin System and advocate for them on issues of
higher education pertaining to value, quality, and the student
experience.

General Position Description:
The Government Relations Director serves as United Council’s lead
lobbyist and works to educate, organize, and represent United
Council’s legislative agenda and Policy Platform. This position works
to strengthen and protect student rights ranging from shared
governance to academic affairs to student fee autonomy.
