Communications Director:
Reporting directly to the Campaign Director, the Campaign Communications Director will work closely with senior staff to administer all Campaign communications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Communications Director position is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Work with campaign manager and seniors staff to develop and implement the strategic communications plan.
- Generate earned media coverage of the Democratic message through proactive planning and rapid response.
Write press releases, statements, media advisories, talking points, columns and remarks for Party officials and surrogates.
Schedule media interviews and provide appropriate background information to the Chair and/or surrogates for all media events.
Field and respond to all media inquiries and oversee comprehensive media tracking program. Travel with Candidate and surrogates to media events as needed.
DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in a senior communications position for political campaigns or a high profile non-profit required; experience in a battleground state and/or targeted statewide campaign preferred.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including on-the-record experience.
Track record of success in a fast paced, high stakes environment.
Demonstrated ability to manage staff and work with volunteers and interns.
