Virginia Smith seeks to be the first woman & person of color to represent the 15th district in the Virginia Senate. She is a retired elementary educator advancing a progressive agenda across the most rural, expansive senate district in the state, while taking on a Republican incumbent who has held the seat since 2000.

Team Smith is looking for a part-time field organizer to help spread this message and revitalize progressive engagement across ten counties in Southside Virginia. If you are interested in rural organizing, issue-based organizing, and empowering digitally isolated constituents to build their own demcratic practice, all while laying the groundwork for genuine intersectional leadership in the years ahead, this role may be for you!

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Recruit, train, and manage County Captains and work to grow the volunteer network
  • Plan, build, and assist in managing volunteer Phonebanks and Canvasses
  • Engage in direct voter contact by knocking on doors, making calls, and sending postcards
  • Learn and utilize digital organizing tools to expand volunteer engagement, while training other members of the campaign to effectively utilize them as well
  • Point person for all returning data
Key Qualifications include:
  • Availability to work irregular hours
  • Superior Public Speaking Skills
  • Excellent Active Listening Skills
  • Access to a car
  • Previous political campaign or issue-based organizing experience preferred but not required
