Description:
Progressive Brooklyn Council Member seeks a Legislative Director with communications responsibilities.

This position will handle committee assignments, manage committee responsibilities, and help to communicate successes in both of these areas to constituents.

Responsibilities:

• Advance the Council Member's legislative agenda through strategic policy development and advocacy
  
• Develop and maintain relationships with key policy and advocacy thought leaders
  
• Ensure policy implementation through regulatory advocacy
  
• Manage in-District special projects, including land use applications and planning studies
• Work closely with communications director to develop compelling narratives around policy and budget campaigns

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  
• 2-5 years of policy and advocacy experience
  
• Strong analytical, research and writing skills
  
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  
• Tenacious spirit and a good sense of humor are a plus
  
• Background in social services, policy analyst, or both a major plus

Level of Language Proficiency:
English required, Spanish a plus.
