VCET PROGRAM MANAGER

Our partners work together to advance equality, justice and opportunity, to win shared policy victories and strive to engage underrepresented communities in the democratic process.
Overview: We are looking for a Program Manager who will work with VCET and our partner organizations to lead our program work. You will be responsible for planning annual VCET events and programs. You will also work with our coalition to increase issue-based workgroup participation. Through the workgroups, you will develop yearly strategic plans and legislative agenda. You will lead our election protection and voting rights work as well as play a major role in our training of progressive activists. Ideally this position will be based in either our Richmond or Newport News offices.
Duties and Responsibilities: The VCET Program Manager will build strong relationships with our partner organizations. We are a coalition of the willing and the ability to understand our partners, their work and how we can work together to achieve our goals is critical. The Program Manager will co-lead our issue-based work groups and help them develop strong plans and goals and then execute on them. Leading our civic engagement work is a crucial piece of this role. That includes our election protection, parties at the polls and preparing for the 2020 census. You are responsible for planning the annual VCET Democracy Summit, Advocacy Training as well as events that are part of our work groups’ annual plan. VCET trains progressive activists around the state in electoral and advocacy work as well as racial equity and other topics.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will be a great team player who thrives in an unconventional environment where experimentation is encouraged and responsibilities continue to change and evolve. Strong communications skills, strong technology skills and ability to work independently with minimum supervision are required. Organizing experience and familiarity with VAN, Hustle and CRMs is helpful. A strong commitment to progressive values is non-negotiable.
