JOB TITLE: Organizing and Outreach Program Manager
The Manager is part of a high capacity three-person team leading a very active housing and mobility justice coalition of 36 member organizations. A successful Manager has strong leadership and project
management abilities in order to develop and implement the coalition’s campaign plans.
The following are core responsibilities of the position:
Manage ACT-LA’s Organizing Committee activities and play a lead role in organizing and outreach for all of ACT-LA’s campaigns
Lead outreach to other organizations for campaign-related activities
Ensure that the work of ACT-LA’s organizing committee is coordinated with the
coalition’s other committees
Serve as the primary point of contact for community organizing staff of ACT-LA
member organizations
Manage events and actions planned by the Organizing Committee, the Host
Committee and ACT-LA staff
Develop popular education and other materials regarding land use, development,
transit equity and other ACT-LA campaign goals and manage workshops, panels
and other educational activities
Provide information regarding overall campaign activities to community
organizing staff and affiliated community residents
Facilitate communication between community resident leaders and ACT-LA
committees
Collaborate with other team members in creating/responding to media and
communications opportunities with ACT-LA members and community residents
Qualifications:
• This position is part of a small staff coordinating a large coalition engaged in multiple campaigns; flexibility, adaptability, and relationship building skills are a must
Share administrative tasks with ACT-LA staff
Coordinate with state, regional and local housing/mobility justice coalitions
Represent ACT-LA on panels, at community meetings, and at relevant events
Minimum 3 years of community organizing experience required
Coalition-building and event planning experience required
Strong, demonstrated commitment to racial, economic and environmental justice required
Experience developing popular education materials and leading workshops required
Familiarity with LA’s political landscape and social/economic issues preferred
Experience with housing, labor and/or mobility justice work preferred

Location: ACT-LA is fiscally sponsored by the Little Tokyo Service Center with offices at Strategic Action for a Just Economy in Historic South Central LA.
