Community Partners Network Associate

Title: Community Partners Network Associate
Reports to: National Campaign Director
Term: Immediately
Status: Full time, Exempt Employee, 40 hours/week.
Position Summary
The Community Partners Network Associate will be primarily responsible for developing and implementing a strategy for maintaining, improving, and growing our network of Community Partner organizations; assist Advancing Justice-AAJC staff to implement nationally coordinated campaigns with Community Partner Network member organizations and to assist with strategizing, engaging and mobilizing our youth network outreach efforts.
In this leadership role, the Community Partners Network Associate will coordinate with his/her counterparts within the Advancing Justice affiliation to align and integrate our Community Partners Network strategy, education and capacity building initiatives in order to maximize the effectiveness of our collective efforts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizational Leadership and Strategic Planning
• Act as thought partner to the National Campaign Director on community mobilizing, education, and relationship building.
• Work closely with policy leads and all other AAJC staff to provide leadership and direction in setting budgets, program goals, and strategies; advancing new ideas and innovation that align with our organizational mission and strategic plan.
Community Partners Network (CPN) Strategy
• In collaboration with the National Campaign Director and program area leads, develop a strategy for AAJC to engage in meaningful and reciprocal relationships with Community Partners.
• Identify and implement strategies to maintain and strengthen relationships with Community Partners, including helping to identify and facilitate direct engagement of staff with Community Partners.
• Recruit new organizations into the Community Partners Network; collaborate with National Campaign Director to design mechanisms to mobilize and engage Community Partners in AAJC policy initiatives and advocacy campaigns.
• Maintain databases and electronic listservs for Community Partners Network, and collaborate with the National Campaign Director to deploy communications opportunities for Community Partners;
• Contribute to an environment of innovation regarding AAJC’s Community Partners Network engagement and organizing model
• Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic communications plans related to Community Partners Network; including providing content support, responding to press inquiries, and making public speaking appearances as necessary and appropriate.
• Assist with fundraising, grants management, and relationship management with funders and supporters.
Youth Leadership Summit (YLS)
· Increase applicant pool for YLS through targeted outreach to colleges and student organizations
· Collaborate with National Campaign Director to set agenda, determine outcomes, and arrange logistics
· Coordinate with all AAJC staff to establish roles and responsibilities during YLS
· Provide technical assistance and oversight for student stipend projects following YLS
· Compile post-YLS report and assessment of stipend projects impact
Emerging Communities Initiative (ECI)
· Support ongoing development of ECI table in pilot city of Houston, TX
· Provide technical assistance, webinars, and in-person trainings to ECI member organizations
· Strengthen existing relationships, as well as pursuing new ones, in ECI expansion cities
· Coordinate with AAJC policy leads to reinforce and increase communication and direction regarding policy agenda for ECI engagement
· Facilitate future intra-ECI learnings and collaboration on policy agendas
Community Education and Capacity Building
• In coordination with the National Campaign Director and AAJC staff, identify, develop, and implement community education initiatives for all program areas, and ensure that information is delivered in a targeted manner through the Community Partners Network, and other avenues.
• In collaboration with AAJC staff, coordinate the translation, production and dissemination of community education materials.
• In coordination with the National Campaign Director, coordinate and conduct outreach, training, and technical assistance programs for Asian American community-based organizations across the country; and
• Work with AAJC staff to conduct periodic needs assessments.
Fundraising
• Contribute to the development and implementation of a fundraising supported growth strategy for the Community Partners Network, including the identification of donor prospects through work with peer organizations and other professional contacts, and the development of potential programmatic elements that may be of particular interest to donors/prospects;
• Work with the National Campaign Director, Finance, and Development teams to craft project budgets and contribute to the development of grant proposals relating to our Community Partners strategy, education, and initiatives;
• Provide content/information for donor communications and materials (donor newsletters, action alerts, special reports from the executive director, social media postings, etc.); and
• Attend meetings with prospects/donors as necessary and appropriate.
General AAJC Roles
• Live and exhibit the Core Values of AAJC by contributing to an environment that promotes trust, teamwork, and transparency among staff, board, National Advisory Council, campaign cabinet, Affiliates, and Community Partners.
• Contribute to, establish, and follow policies and procedures, including maintenance of confidentiality, to ensure that AAJC’s principles are implemented.
• Participate fully in, and lead decision-making processes; understand outcomes and be accountable for decisions made in, or affecting his/her area.
• Understand the values and principles of AAJC, and apply them fully in work responsibilities.
• Participate in other activities, agency advocacy, and serve on ad hoc committees as requested.
• Attend and contribute to AAJC and board of directors meetings.
• Willing to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends
EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience.
• At least two (2) years of work experience in a related field.
• Experience in campaign, labor, and/or field organizing (in person and on-line).
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
• Ability to operationalize vision, think strategically, creatively problem solve, exercise good judgment, and lead change.
• Must be able to measure program outcomes and successes, and redirect staff if warranted.
• Successful track record of forging alliances, operating in coalitions, move people to take collective action, and engage in advocacy.
• Facilitative and collaborative leadership style, with strong people skills.
• Experience working with diverse groups from various sectors, ranging from grassroots to policy institutions.
• Fundraising experience, including building and developing relationships.
• Excellent communicator and writer who can articulate messages to different audiences, including translating law and policy into plain language.
• Proven ability to work collegially with management and team members.
• Willing to adapt to changing priorities, and balance competing assignments as necessary.
Desired Qualification
• Experience and knowledge in Asian American, civil and human rights issues on both the local and national level.
