Progressive Takeover seeks Program Assistant (Chicago, IL)
Position Summary
Progressive Takeover seeks a Program Assistant eager to join our voter mobilization efforts. We are growing rapidly, and you will help us hone the voice of our organization. You will also assist with planning and managing our electoral programs as needs require and time permits.
We value the input of our supporters, and you will lead our efforts to communicate with them. This may involve phone calls, emails, mail, and other online outreach. You will work directly with our Executive Director to craft our social media strategy and handle the daily operations of our social accounts. As our field campaigns launch, you will assist in managing our programs and supporting our staff.
This is a full-time position based in downtown Chicago, Illinois, and the Program Assistant will report directly to the Executive Director. There are no formal education requirements for this position.
Job Responsibilities
- Respond to supporter e-mails and calls, tracking feedback and requests
- Manage and monitor our organization's social media accounts
- Collaborate with other staff to build a cohesive online communication strategy
- Aid with program planning, managing electoral programs, and supporting distributed field staff
Required Qualifications
- You love talking to people, and you appreciate others' input.
- You value details, and you have a dedication to editing.
- You know the ins and outs of Microsoft Office and Google Docs.
- You pick up skills and tools quickly, and you are excited to learn.
- You are passionate about electing Democrats and progressives to office.
- You love creativity and problem-solving and aren’t afraid of a challenge.
Preferred Qualifications
- You have worked in an office or in politics before (includes volunteering).
- You write well and write often, and you ideally have experience crafting online content and/or email messaging.
- You have run organizational Facebook or Twitter pages, are familiar with social media management and analysis tools, or have experience with graphic design tools such as Canva or Photoshop.
Salary and Benefits:
- Your salary will be based on qualifications and experience and will be negotiable.
- Your benefits include: Employer-sponsored health insurance, a 401(k), a public transit stipend, and 15 paid time off days per year.
