The Indivisible Project is looking for a Senior Manager, Digital Organizing to help realize the potential of our movement’s national network as we head into the 2018 midterm elections. The ideal candidate for this role is a seasoned digital staffer with experience in “Big Organizing” style digital organizing.
This is a mission-critical role -- you will work with our groups to support their digital organizing efforts, move our online community into offline action with those groups, and building a digital volunteer network to support our movement’s offline organizing. This role will work closely with a counterpart on the communications team, the Senior Manager, Digital Strategy and Fundraising, to co-create the digital strategy to support our movement.
We are hiring for this position immediately. This position is full-time, with a minimum salary of $70,000, commensurate with experience. Responsibilities:
Building a national digital volunteer program
- Quickly scope and acquire peer-to-peer organizing tools, in collaboration with the Data Manager, to run a scalable volunteer program
- Work with the Senior Manager, Digital Strategy and Fundraising to recruit a broad set of volunteers from our email program and social media channels into volunteer opportunities
- Communicate with, and cultivate, volunteers to regularly participate in the program
- Train volunteers to become “super volunteers” to take on more responsibilities like help desks and volunteer onboarding
- Collaborate with the political team and state-based organizing to ensure digital volunteer program is successfully supporting on-the-ground electoral organizing in our 9 target states
Moving our online supporters into offline action with our groups
- Work with the Senior Manager, Digital Strategy and Fundraising to build a digital communications calendar to move our email list into offline actions (rallies, canvassing, phone-banking) with our groups
- Work with organizers to ensure groups’ usage of our online resources -- event registration, member portal, messaging toolkits
- In collaboration with the Organizing Data Manager, develop metrics for assessing and analyzing offline action
Supporting groups’ digital organizing efforts
- Scope and vet easy-to-use digital organizing tools (specifically a mass emailing system for local groups), and make recommendations to group leaders when approached
- Work with the Communications Team as we redesign our website to provide new tools to group leaders including, but not limited to, organizing chatbots, event maps, and website tools
- Facilitate in-person digital organizing trainings at our upcoming Regional Institutes
- Work with our Trainings Director and Social Media Manager to provide high-quality, virtual trainings and webinars to advance the skills of our groups
Manage member portal with trainings, resources, and tools for Indivisible groups to use in their organizing
- Other organizing and digital responsibilities as needed
- Work with members of organizing and communications teams to move local stories up to national staff for amplification in press, email messaging, and social media content
- Support on drafting of content to our digital channels as needed
Qualifications:
- 7+ years in a digital role at a progressive advocacy or campaigning organization, or 3+ cycles on political campaigns
- Proficiency with mass email programs (ex: ActionKit, Blue State Digital, Action Network), SMS platforms (ex: Mobile Commons, Revolution Messaging’s Revere), peer-to-peer tools (ex: Hustle, Relay, or Spoke; Hubdialer, Callfire)
- Experience writing digital content for large audiences (i.e. email programs over 500,000 supporters, Facebook and Twitter audiences over 250,000 followers)
- Ability to write quickly, adapt to different writing styles, and with minimal edits required
