Council Member Carlina Rivera represents the 2nd Council District which includes the diverse neighborhoods of the East Village, Flatiron, Gramercy Park, Rose Hill, Kips Bay, Murray Hill and the Lower East Side. She is dedicated to many issues, including affordability, preservation, open space, resiliency, education equality, and small business survival.
The office of City Council Member Carlina Rivera is searching for a self-motivated, enthusiastic, highly organized, and detail-oriented student with a passion for public policy to join the team as a Legislative Intern this fall. This intern will work with staff at the Council Member’s Legislative Office, located at 250 Broadway across from City Hall. Interns will be expected to help with the legislative process, which includes researching/presenting on potential legislation, communicating with advocacy groups, and responding to constituents’ opinions. Interns will also work on their own semster-long legislative project, with the goal of submitting or contributing to legislation that the Council Member will sponsor at the end of the term. Hired interns will gain valuable work experience in government operations, office management, and local policymaking.
The internship is part-time with a maximum of 14 hours a week required. Specific hours are negotiable.
