Position Summary:

The Secretary’s Office is the primary point of contact for members of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) at the Democratic National Headquarters.  The Office of the Secretary plays a key institutional role at the DNC and a significant role in the Party’s upcoming quadrennial nominating convention—including the oversight of all Convention votes.  The Delegate Tracker reports to the Director of the Secretary’s Office and operates as a point person for a cross section of state parties during the Convention planning process. This position end date will be August 15, 2016.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Working with the State Parties to compile accurate information for the approximately 7,000 Convention participants.
  • Entering all relevant information for each convention participant into our database.
  • Creating and maintaining effective methods of communications with the staff of the State Parties.
  • Assisting with the production of the Temporary and Final Rolls of Delegates, Alternates, Committee Members, and Pages.
  • Facilitating communication and the accurate transmittal of information to the Campaign, DNCC staff as well as various departments within the DNC.
  • Staff the whip and boiler room operations during the National Convention.
  • Staff the needs of the Convention Standing Committees.
  • Assuming additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated organizational skills, acute attention to detail, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Extensive familiarity and comfort level with database construction and maintenance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Democratic politics, State Party organizations, and key individual and institutional players.
  • Ability to be flexible and meet challenging situation with sound political instincts and judgement.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, Quickbase, and online research tools.
