The Michigan House Democratic Fund is seeking thoughtful, driven, results-oriented, and highly-motivated campaign manager resumes to share with 2018 Michigan House campaigns.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The campaign manager oversees all aspects of the campaign including day-to-day operations, the coordination and implementation of the fundraising operations, and ongoing coordination with the candidate. They are also responsible for creating and managing the campaign budget. Campaign managers must have excellent organizational skills, be level-headed, have good interpersonal skills, and not be afraid of raising money. She or he must also be someone a candidate can trust and work well with. A campaign manager doesn’t necessarily need prior campaign experience, so long as they meet the necessary criteria.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Campaign Managers, who will be based in their assigned MI House districts, will be expected to:
● Work with the candidate and community leaders to develop a campaign plan;
● Compile weekly reports detailing voter contact, communications, and finance data;
● Identify opportunities for candidates to speak and attend events, meet with thought and opinion leaders, participate in/leverage support of allied organizations and groups;
● Identify and proactively seek out endorsement opportunities;
● Recruit, hire and manage any additional campaign staff and volunteers;
● Work with campaign treasurer on timely filing of finance reports;
● Manage the candidate’s schedule and time (doors, deadlines, events, fundraising);
● Research potential donors and track candidate call time/fundraising efforts;
● Manage all campaign and fundraising event logistics;
● Staff candidate at campaign events when necessary;
● Develop and oversee the volunteer infrastructure needed to successfully meet voter contact goals in your district;
● Work with specific constituency groups to organize their involvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Ability to be a self-starter, and to work independently toward agreed upon goals;
● Commitment to, and enforcement of, deadlines;
● Must be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and have a strong commitment to accountability;
● Willing to lead by example and knock doors, make phone calls, and do what it takes to win;
● A willingness to give maximum effort no matter how big or small the task;
● Respect the work and don’t shy away from challenges or difficult conversations;
● Candidates with at least 1 cycle of campaign experience, in any capacity, preferred;
● Candidates with community leadership development experience are encouraged to apply;
● Frequent travel, access to a vehicle, and access to a cell phone are required; and
● Votebuilder, Google Docs, Dropbox, and Microsoft Office/Excel experience is prefered.
COMPENSATION
Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience and determined by individual MI House campaigns.
