Constituent Service Liaison

Position Summary

The Constituent Service Liaison will serve as a liaison between the community and the Senate Office.  He/she is primarily responsible for responding to and addressing (sometimes complex) constituent requests.  The Constituent Service Liaison will also be responsible for regularly attending community events and municipal meetings in his/her assigned region as a representative of the Senate Office.  He/she will report to the District Office Director, but will receive periodic feedback from the State Senator and Chief of Staff. 


Position Duties

·     Actively respond to constituent requests via phone, email, or in person.  Work to resolve matters and/or identify available resources; provide follow up and notify constituent of case resolution. 

·     Ensure that all constituent correspondence is recorded in the Constituent Tracking System; develop reports on trends in constituent requests to inform the Senator.

·     Represent the Senate Office at meetings and events (including evening and weekend events); prepare a report to detail relevant information from local meetings and follow up on any requests.

·     Regularly table events at local senior centers, libraries, township buildings, etc. in assigned territory.

·     Liaise with local officials in designated territory within the District.

·     Assist in the organization of office events.

·     Contribute to the creation of the e-newsletter and bi-annual office newsletter. 


Ideal Candidate Should Have a Considerable Knowledge Of:

·     State services and regulations.

·     The Senate District, community groups, political organizations, non-profit organizations, and important/influential people.

·     Current events and the political landscape.


Ideal Candidate Should Have the Ability to:

·     Attend evening and weekend meetings; transportation is required.

·     Exhibit a superior level of communication skills – both written and verbal.

·     Be courteous, patient, and empathetic toward constituents.

·     Critically think, analyze, and offer solutions to problems.

·     Identify resources.

·     Be energetic!

·     Operate office equipment including pc, photocopier, fax machine, scanner, etc.

·     Work with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community.

·     Multi-task and prioritize work assignments.


Salary: Approx. $50,000
