Role Overview

Houston City Council Campaign is seeking a Finance Director for an election this November.  We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to helping elect the very best candidate in a hotly contested municipal race. This position is through mid-November.

The Finance Director will be responsible for implementing the finance plan. The Finance Director will manage all candidate call time, low and high dollar events, grassroots email program, online fundraising and donor research. The Finance Director will work closely with the Candidate, Campaign Manager, and the general consulting team to ensure fundraising goals are being met.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the candidate’s schedule, including but not limited to call time and events

• Assist Campaign Manager and Consultants with developing and implementing budget

• Oversee and work on donor research and fundraising universe development

• Manage and develop plans for donor contact

• Manage donor relationships

• Staff and manage call time and events when necessary along with other finance staff

• Serve as part of the senior leadership team, helping advise candidate and campaign manager on the direction of the campaign

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Past finance experience in a leadership role

• Proficiency with NGP and ActBlue

• Previous experience with FEC reporting and compliance

• Ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced, demanding environment

• Highly organized and detail - oriented individual

• Excellent persuasive writing skills with a strong attention to detail

• Proven experience managing multiple complex projects and finishing tasks on deadline

• Capacity and desire to work long hours in a campaign setting

• Flexibility and willingness to travel

• Transportation & Drivers License (must have a vehicle)

Preferred Background & Experience

• Experience will all aspects of campaign finance operations including: call time, events, mail, online, phone, finance committee, budget management, and compliance
