The Sierra Club is seeking a Senior Communications Strategist for Federal Policy to oversee the Beyond Coal campaign’s federal communications work. The Beyond Coal campaign is Sierra Club’s flagship campaign whose mission is to retire or transition to cleaner energy half of America’s coal plants by 2017. It is the most effective and best-resourced environmental campaign in the U.S and we are looking for a dynamic communicator to cultivate national media representatives and pitch Sierra Club stories, statements, events and reactions to the press and ensure adequate media training for federal policy staff and Beyond Coal campaign directors. The Senior Communications Strategist for Federal Policy is a key Beyond Coal leader and will work with senior leadership in Washington to drive the campaign’s national narrative helping to amplify the United States as a world leader in carbon emission reductions. A minimum a five years of media relations is required, preferably in policy advocacy work, as well as previous management experience.
