Position Summary:

The Manager, Impact will be part of a regional team working to inspire and support the civic leadership of LEE members. This individual will support the Director of Impact’s efforts to identify, train, and make LEE members more effective in the pipelines to policy leadership, organizing, and advocacy leadership, along with a specialized focus on elected leadership.

This role will involve meeting individually and building relationships with LEE members in order to inspire them about their own leadership potential and connect them to training and experiential opportunities that match their desired impact. The Manager will significantly support the planning and execution of regional training opportunities and initiatives to grow the regional LEE membership and will also assist in organizing efforts led by LEE members and the Director of Program and Organizing in the region. Additionally, the manager will dedicate efforts to inspiring and coaching potential candidates of elected office through LEE’s unique framework of candidate cultivation.

As a team member in a growing and dynamic organization, the Manager will adapt to evolving understandings of the most effective path to impact.

Position Location: Bay Area, CA

Travel Requirements: 20-30%; includes travel between communities/areas in region and occasional travel out of state for conferences

Responsibilities:

Engaging the LEE membership base in the  Bay Area (40%)

• Conducting one-on-one meetings with members
• Coaching members and connecting them to opportunities to regional and digital opportunities
• Inspire and coach LEE members to investigate policy, advocacy, organizing, and elected leadership as a path to their desired impact

Recruit and coach members for elected leadership positions (30%):

• Identifying, cultivating, and influencing members to act on their interest in elected leadership
• Coach members through LEE’s candidate coaching curriculum to learn essential campaign competencies

Lead event execution across all programs, including supporting LEE’s collective action efforts in the region (20%)

• Facilitate trainings and workshops to support member development around policy, advocacy, organizing, and elected leadership
• Oversee the logistics and execution of regional trainings and fellowships.

Administrative and Team Meetings (10%)

• Preparing for weekly check-ins with Director and other bi-weekly with LEE National Team members (as appropriate per goals associated with the role)
• Participating in weekly team calls and bi-weekly LEE All Staff Calls
• Attending quarterly RI Team Conferences

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required
• 4+ years of professional experience, with 3+ years of relevant experience in electoral politics, policy, or advocacy and organizing
• Experience working in communities of color
• Experience working in under-resourced communities
• Understands the interconnectedness of electoral politics, community organizing, and advocacy in the creation of equitable public policy
• Thrives and adapts in an entrepreneurial and dynamic professional environment with the ability to take initiative
• Possesses strong interpersonal skills
• Possesses excellent organizational, communications, and project management skills
• Exemplifies Leadership for Educational Equity’s core values
• Access to a car and a  valid driver’s license. Due to the large geographic layout of the Bay Area, aspects of this role will entail significant amounts of time commuting to and from member/community meetings throughout the Bay Area.
• Utilization of public transportation, Uber, or Lyft may be an option for multiple meetings within the same city.
