The
Sierra Club is seeking an
Associate Press Secretary to lead communications on its groundbreaking
Beyond Coal Campaign
in the Upper Midwest. Beyond Coal is one of the most effective and
best-resourced environmental and public health campaigns in the U.S.,
and we're looking for a savvy, independent public relations
professional, who will act as lead strategist and implementer for bold
new communications campaigns that will help move the Midwest from coal
to clean energy.
Our new Associate Press Secretary will be:

Stimulated by the challenge of creating, planning, and executing
creative paid and earned media campaigns with diverse allies and partner
organizations across multiple regions.
- A self-starter who shows
strong initiative, and is willing to challenge conventional wisdom and
build consensus within a team of policy, legal and community organizing
talent.
- A talented storyteller with strong instincts for political dynamics and strategy.

Committed to developing inclusive communication strategies that engage
diverse audiences within the growing pro-clean energy movement,
including youth, allies in the labor movement and communities of color.

Dedicated to using their skills to write and pitch stories, develop
relationships with reporters, craft messages, and apply advertising
tactics to advance our goals of expanding clean energy, protecting
public health, and combating climate change.
The Associate Press
Secretary position is based out of Chicago. Candidates should have 3+
years of media and communications experience, preferably from a
