Description
Delegate Elizabeth Guzman is a first-term incumbent with a strong Republican challenger, and part of her plan to win re-election involves heavy fundraising. She is the chair of the Freshman Caucus of 2017, the largest and most diverse class of state house Delegates ever elected in Virginia. She is the first Hispanic female immigrant elected to state office in Virginia, and the first AFSCME union member as well. In January of 2018, she gave the Democratic rebuttal to Donald Trump’s first State of the Union Address in Spanish.
The campaign is looking to bring a Finance Assistant ASAP. The Finance Assistant works with Finance Director to raise money for the campaign, works with donors to support the candidate, and directly interfaces with the candidate during the fundraising process. As the first Latina immigrant to the Virginia House of Delegates, she is an inspiring figure that can fundraise well. There is a set finance plan that we will be working off of, but we need someone with the flexibility to respond to anything unexpected.
Responsibilities
- Build a relationship with the campaign’s donors to ensure regular support for the campaign through donations;
- Manage call time with the candidate as directed by the Finance Director;
- Chase pledges and re-solicits donors regularly for consistent cash flow;
- Assist hosts and stakeholders in planning and executing fundraisers and meet-and-greets for the candidate in and outside the district;
- Assists with donor research and prospecting donor lists;
- Hire, train, and manage Fellows to assist in fundraising activities; and,
- Assume responsibilities as delegated by the Finance Director for the successful execution of fundraising.
Qualifications
- Willing to work long hours, including nights and weekends as necessary;
- Capable of managing for results through ambitious goal setting and objectives.
- Needs to be flexible with their duties and expectations
- Past finance experience a plus, but not required.
- Possess a laptop and cell phone.
- Possess a vehicle with a willingness to relocate.
