POSITION

Seeking a researcher to assist a small research shop’s work for progressive candidates and causes; the researcher will primarily work on opposition research for our political clients. This position is based in New York City and is full-time for the duration of the 2020 cycle.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

An ideal candidate has one to two cycles of experience in political research, is a self-starter who can handle large tasks with little supervision, is intellectually curious and creative in finding answers, has strong writing skills and attention to detail, takes pride in their work, has a passion for keeping up with political narratives big and small, and wants to help progressive causes succeed.

 

As for some specific tasks, candidates should:

·      Be comfortable writing about complex subjects quickly, concisely, and accurately;

·      Have experience analyzing campaign finance data and be familiar with basic data analysis functions on Microsoft Excel;

·      Be capable of identifying sources for public records and summarizing their contents precisely and thoroughly;

·      Be comfortable working through a pile of news clips and bulleting relevant information.
