New York Congressional Campaign is hiring a communications director

The Communications Director will work closely with the candidate, campaign manager, and top advisors to promote the candidate and message through earned and social media.

Responsibilities

Develop communications plan including targeted outreach/relationship building to outlets across multiple media

Serve as campaign spokesperson for all interactions with media

Prep the candidate and campaign team on upcoming forums, debates, appearances

Identify opportunities to promote the candidate and message

Advise the campaign team on paid media efforts

Work with digital media team to ensure fast, quality social media postings and response

Build the campaign’s social media presence

Work with volunteers to develop an active LTE and social media posting program

Qualifications

At least 1-2 cycles of on-the-record campaign communications experience

Strong social media knowledge and/or background

A blemish-free online profile (don’t apply if you’ve made a habit of saying dumb things on twitter)

Excellent writing skills and strong political instincts

New York City/State experience is a big plus, but not a must
