Position Title: Business Policy Fellow

Department: Corporate Affairs

Supervisor’s Title: Director of Corporate Development

Pay: $12.00/hr 


Primary Role

The Business Policy Fellow will assist with the development and execution of the Annual Legislative Summit (April 19th – 21st, 2016)  as it relates to corporate and business development. This includes coordinating with all staff on various projects, briefs, profiles and general administrative support. The immediate needs of the Corporate Affairs team will determine day-to-day tasks. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

-          Management of membership and clientele

-          Draft business proposals for strategic partners

-          Research corporations and small businesses for potential strategic partnerships and membership recruitment

-          Organize and coordinate communications with corporate business leaders and member affiliates (USHCC Membership)

-          Perform research and analysis on business policy, legislation, and studies in order to effectively communicate them to members of staff, affiliates and the President & CEO

-          Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls and emails, and preparing staff members for meetings

-          Coordinate and schedule meetings

Knowledge and Skills

-          Proficient in Microsoft Office Operating System and all of its programs, especially Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

-          Demonstrated problem solving and people skills

-          Strong communications skills

-          Strong attention to detail

Required 

-          Attendance and participation at our Legislative Summit or National Convention depending on dates of fellowship:

o    Legislative Summit – mid to late March

Preferred Qualifications

-          Business (Economics), Communications or Political Science major preferred but not required.

-          Experience conducting outreach

-          Remains current on political news and issues affecting the Hispanic Community and economy in general from, but not limited to, a business perspective
