Position Description:
Field Organizers are key to the success of any campaign. Field Organizers recruit, build teams, and motivate volunteers to register, call, and knock on the doors of voters to deliver our candidate’s message and turnout voters for them. Field Organizers are the face of the campaign in their district, and will maintain positive relationships with local Democratic groups, community leaders and volunteers. The desired candidate for this position is enthusiastic, has organizing, political, event management, or team leadership experience, and possesses a strong passion for electing Democrats and progressive candidates.
Duties include but not are limited to:
Work with the Field Director to implement the field plan, hitting goals including:
Door knocks
Phone calls
Volunteer recruitment and team building
Commit to vote card collection
Vote by mail/Permanent Early Voter List recruitment and follow-up
Recruit, train, and motivate volunteers and interns to achieve daily and weekly goals
Build a long lasting volunteer infrastructure in our district by collaborating with volunteer and field leadership to plan campaign events
Meet daily reporting and data entry deadlines
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
General understanding of political campaigns and desire to learn more
Highly organized with an ability to manage multiple ongoing projects
Comfortable with technology, experience using VAN/VoteBuilder a plus
Dedication to empowering volunteers to effect change in their community
Ability to work long hours including nights and weekends on a regular basis
A true self-starter who is a detail-oriented team player
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong dedication to progressive values and issues
Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle required
Must reside in or be willing and able to quickly relocate to the Chicagoland area
At least one campaign cycle in organizing preferred but not required; can be from a candidate or issue-based campaign
Salary:
Salary starts at $2,000 a month and is commensurate with experience.
