The Alliance for Youth Action (along with our sister 501(c)(3) organization the Alliance for Youth Organizing) is actively seeking a Development Coordinator, a key player in our organization who will take charge of Grants Management and CRM Management while providing critical Administrative Support. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, be proficient in data management, and have an inclination for creative problem-solving. Experience with EveryAction or similar CRM platforms, a fundraising or donor relations background, and a commitment to our organization's mission and values are highly desirable. This role is perfect for a proactive, detail-oriented individual ready to contribute significantly to our goal of empowering youth-led organizations to make a lasting impact.

This role is classified as full-time, hourly, non-exempt, and based in the United States and reports to the Development Director (see Logistics, below). Alliance for Youth Organizing is a unionized workplace, and staff are represented by the Washington-Baltimore News Guild, Local 32035; this position is a part of the bargaining unit.

The Alliance convenes, supports, and scales a national network of youth-led, locally rooted organizations growing civic engagement and social justice coast to coast. We truly are a multiracial network “of young people, by young people, for all people.” Our Affiliates and Partners run massive voter registration and get-out-the-vote drives, train new young leaders and run powerful campaigns to win on the progressive issues our generation cares about most. Our national team empowers this work by tracking down national resources for the network, building capacity for local groups, seeding new efforts, and coordinating national issue campaigns.


Job Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of this position include:


Grants Management (40%)

  • Regularly update the Development Folder with grant agreements.

  • Maintain and update grant records in various development tracking systems.

  • Enter new grant agreement details into development tracking systems.

  • Schedule report submission dates on relevant calendars.

  • Support the grant audit process, ensuring adherence to principles of transparency and accountability.


CRM Management (30%)

  • Record new grant agreements and funding disbursements in the Grants Management Dashboard.

  • Accurately update revenue records in EveryAction using the Revenue Tracking document.

  • Maintain up-to-date donor profiles in EveryAction, including contact information.

  • Participate in the annual EveryAction data cleaning to ensure data accuracy.

  • Organize and record funding sources in EveryAction or other Development Database.


Administrative Support (30%)

  • Provide comprehensive administrative assistance to the Executive Director and Development Director as it relates to fundraising matters.

  • Assist in developing materials for organizational documents and donor communications.

  • Support the planning and execution of donor events to enhance donor engagement.

  • Contribute to the creation of the Annual Reports, showcasing the impact of donor contributions.

  • Manage the donor recognition program, ensuring timely and meaningful appreciation.

  • Track success stories and other Network victories to effectively communicate achievements to donors.

Key Qualifications & Experience

Baseline Expectations

  • 1-2 years of work experience in nonprofit operations, finance, fundraising, or similar roles.

  • Believe in Youth Organizing as a vehicle for change.

  • A personal understanding and demonstrated commitment to social justice and equity, and a desire to uplift the leadership of BIPOC young people.

  • Detail-oriented and organized, with a proven ability to effectively and independently manage projects.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and patience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Comfortability with technology and virtual communication systems, including Google Suite, Project Management Software, Slack, Zoom, Google Meets, etc.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Experience with CRM platforms or money-tracking systems, preferably EveryAction.

  • Experience in fundraising, donor, or partnership management.

  • Some knowledge of 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) nonprofit structures.


Logistics

  • Compensation: $26.92 - $31.25 per hour (annualized ~$56,000 - $65,000) commensurate with experience.

  • Benefits: The Alliance offers a competitive benefits package covering:

  • Location: This is a full-time position based in the United States. All Alliance staff are required to live within about an hour from an airport with frequent flights to DC and to our network locations; eligible airports are listed here. Moving reimbursements are offered to employees who need to move for this position.

  • COVID-19: The Alliance currently requires employees to be fully vaccinated and boosted in order to travel on behalf of the Alliance. Additionally there may be vaccine requirements for attendees at Alliance, Network, or partner events.

  • Travel: Domestic travel for this role may be up to 20% of this position. Must be willing to work long, irregular hours periodically and travel as needed.
