Platform Engineer

Location is Cincinnati OH

Remote for now must be on site when the time comes

Contract 9-12 months

 

 

GENERAL FUNCTION:

As a Fifth Third Platform Engineer, you will be leveraging agile methodologist on a fully dedicated scrum team to build, test, and deploy contemporary data platforms for the enterprise. In addition, your team will be responsible for maintaining the lifecycle management of existing platforms and building a strategy for cloud migration.  Whether a new feature or bug fix, you will help your squad deliver the most elegant scalable solutions, all while learning and growing your skills.  Most importantly, you will collaborate with the nimble, autonomous, cross functional team of makers, breakers, doers, and disruptors who love to solve real problems to meet customer needs.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent experience)

At least 2 years of platform engineering experience

Proficient in administrative operating systems such as Linux and comfortable navigating the CLI

Strong experience working in virtualized environments (VMWare/IaaS)

Well versed in at least one scripting language for automation such as Java, Bash, Python, or Powershell

Experience with AWS or at least one public cloud technology

Experience with alerting and monitoring tools

Working knowledge of GitHub/GitLab


Experience working with big data technologies including: Spark, Cassandra, Hadoop, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Snowflake, or Tableau
