The VMware vFabric Engineer handles design and build for all related virtual machines. This person will manage the App Director, Data Director, vCloud Director, vSheild Director, and related programs for the Enterprise Hosting team. This engineer must be well versed in configuration of these tools. The engineer will create new templates, build plans, and create sets of templates in vCloud Director that other junior engineers will use to rapidly create dozens of systems at once. The engineer must be able to work with other teams including Security and Networking team. They must work with multiple managed service providers to ensure their monitoring software is included in templates. The successful candidate will have excellent documentation skills to be able to train others in the use of these products. Technical product experience: REQUIRED PRODUCTS (at least three of the following) VMware ESXi server 5.x App Director Data Director vCloud Director vShield Director RELATED PRODUCTS (mostly included in above) tcServer vPostgres VMware Orchestrator VMware vCenter VMware Data Protection Education/Experience o Bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field, or equivalent work experience. o 8-10 years experience required o Minimum of 3 years direct experience with VMware products o At least 1 year of vFabric experience with the above listed products. Responsibility level o Responsible for template builds that will build hundreds of virtual servers that will run line of business applications. o Response for advanced troubleshooting of Production issues that the managed service provider cannot resolve. o Exercises independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor Skills o Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills (Required) o Strong ability to work independently and manage one’s time (Required) o Strong mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback (Required) o Strong ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue (Required)
