Description: Welding Group Field Technician
JOB SUMMARY:
The Welding Group Field Technician will be responsible for supporting Welding Group operating personnel and equipment by means of troubleshooting, training and R&D work to improve overall productivity and reliability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Providing troubleshooting and technical assistance to Welding Group operating personnel on all issues
• Troubleshoot and repair various welding control systems
• Field and in-house repairs, troubleshooting, and service.
• Support /conduct field and classroom training programs
• Participate in equipment improvements and development projects
• Utilize Holland’s NCR, OFI and Quality Control Processes
• Perform Safety, Quality and Housekeeping audits
• Assist in monitoring adequate levels of recommended spare parts for Welding Group equipment
• Will be required to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in case of emergencies
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be willing to travel extensively
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs with reasonable accommodations
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Ability to walk on uneven surfaces
• Ability to climb in and out of mobile welders
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 5 years experience in field service to include troubleshooting, mechanical, hydraulic and electrical knowledge on various hydroelectric control systems
• Computer and PLC programming knowledge required
• Must have High School diploma or equivalent
• Must be able take and pass all training and background checks
• Must maintain residence within a one-hour commute from head office
• Must be willing to travel extensively
• Possess and maintain a passport
• Good training and coaching skills
• Must be detail-oriented and have good organizational and paperwork skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills required
• Good math skills and ability to read and work with graphs
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics and mechanical drawings
• Employee should be quality conscious and self motivated
• Have good math skills and ability to work with graphs
