This Director of Actuarial position will be responsible for all the Actuarial support for the Delaware and Maryland markets; including our Commercial Group (large and small group) with some Individual business and Medicare oversight. Responsibilities include Pricing; Forecasting; trend development; reserving; product development support; competitor rate analysis; etc.. They also include regulatory aspects; such as state and federal rate filings; managing to minimum MLR requirements and preparation for Exchanges. The preferred location for this person is Harrisburg, PA or St Louis, MO.
We are looking for an actuary with a strong knowledge of all Actuarial supporting functions of Health Care. Designation in the Society of Actuaries; Member of the Academy of Actuaries; and up-to-date with continuing education are strongly desired. Compensation would be commensurate with experience.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate:
- has 8+ years of Commercial Group pricing experience.
- assimilates large amounts of information into strategic;
- sound business recommendations.
- scopes out issues and solves problems independently and in a team environment.
- possesses superior communication of actuarial analyses to non-technical audiences.manages priorities and multiple deadlines in a fast paced environment. sett goals;
- motivates and facilitates professional development of a team of 2-4 individuals
- has computer skills to manage and analyze data; such as excel, access and/or SAS.
