DFPS has issued a request for a Project Manager. This is a backfill role that will be supporting a SACWIS / CCWIS child welfare systems initiative with strong emphasis on business process redesign, stakeholder facilitation, and enterprise project coordination. This role is built around running workstreams, managing project documentation, guiding cross-functional teams, and helping agency leadership make decisions on systems that directly support service delivery to children and families. The ideal candidate will have real child welfare system implementation experience, know how to lead structured project work in a government setting, and be comfortable facilitating sessions with direct delivery staff, business teams, and executive leadership.
Since this is a backfill position, well-qualified candidates that meet/exceed the minimum and preferred criteria will likely be shortlisted for this request. This is a hybrid position, and the schedule will be determined by DFPS leadership. Candidates should be local to the Austin area.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Manage project activities for a SACWIS / CCWIS initiative, including project planning, documentation, stakeholder coordination, and facilitation of work sessions and requirements meetings.
  • Support business process redesign efforts by working with agency teams to evaluate current processes, identify improvements, and recommend next actions to leadership.
  • Guide project teams through structured delivery using project plans, work breakdown structures, issue logs, action logs, decision tracking, and executive-level reporting. 
 
Minimum Candidate Characteristics:
  • 8+ years of experience with project management lifecycle processes, project documentation, and guiding large enterprise project teams.
  • 8+ years of experience implementing SACWIS or CCWIS systems in child welfare or similar human services environments.
  • 8+ years facilitating meetings, managing stakeholder interests, providing recommendations to leadership, and communicating clearly across all organizational levels.

    Working knowledge of Project Management Life Cycle processes and documentation

    Experience in implementing SACWIS/CCWIS systems
    8
    Awareness and knowledge of systems and solutions that that promote efficiency, effectiveness, and enables direct delivery of services to clients.

    Experience in Business Process Redesign.

    Working knowledge of project documentation including project plans, work breakdown structures, issues logs, action logs, and decision tracking documents.

    Facilitating meetings, work sessions, requirements gathering sessions and conducting presentations with all levels of an organization to include direct delivery, senior, and executive leadership.

    Providing recommendations to key agency leadership

    Working knowledge in guiding various project teams; and subsets of teams within large enterprise projects.

    Experience managing competing interests from various project stakeholders and reaching consensus for appropriate next actions.

    Strong communication – verbal and written - skills with all levels of an organization to include direct delivery staff up to executive level leadership.

    Strong presentation and facilitation skills for leading work sessions and project team meetings.

    Experience with the Microsoft Suite of tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project and SharePoint)

Exceptional Candidate Characteristics:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Awareness or knowledge of DFPS systems and programs.
