Position: : IT Certification Curriculum Writer (Technical Writer/Instructional Designer)

Location: Austin TX – Hybrid

Duration: 4 Months

Client: Texas Department of Information Resources – RFR027FY26

 

Essential Duties:  The Technical Writer for IT Certification Program is intended to develop curricula, course outlines, instructional methods, training aids, manuals, and other instructional materials and products that would integrate

DIR data and prerequisite skills tied to CTCM & CTCD certifications. Analyze training content for accessibility; and recommend changes to make content accessible and remediate accessibility issues. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, independently performs a variety of complicated tasks, with a wide degree of latitude with given information on current IT Procurement. Consults with staff on the development of materials by gathering accurate information and translating technical content, including descriptions of concepts, process, and systems, into clear, user-friendly language.

Experience in technical writing, journalism, or communications work. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration, English, education, or a related field is generally preferred. Experience

Expert knowledge of MS Office Suite 2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). A high degree of aptitude and flexibility to deliver training on a myriad of software products.
