Position: SQL Developer with Java experience
Location: Albany, NY
Duration: 6+ month contract
What you will be doing:
You will gain experience designing, developing, and maintaining software applications, data integration services and data analysis.
You will be working on a large-scale software application in a highly complex environment focusing intensely on delivering continuous value to our customer.
While this is not a programming position, you will gain programming experience.
You will continually strive to improve the quality and speed of internal processes.
We routinely process thousands of records, so you will be challenged and encouraged to develop reliable, fast, and highly accurate routines.
Responsibilities:
Using our customized software and carefully written SQL queries, your primary responsibility will be to perform essential restructuring and processing of large data files. (Query and manipulate data)
Perform quality control (QC) checks: You will be performing critical checks on client and vendor data files with the goal of identifying and resolving data inconsistencies.
Analysis and report generation to identify data sets and software defects across all aspects of the program implementation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of Two (2) years of IT experience.
- Minimum of Six (6) months Java coding experience.
- Two (2) years of experience writing SQL queries (preferably with DB2 experience).
- Working knowledge of relational databases.
- Strong attention to detail in diagnosing problems and identifying solutions to address issues.
- Experience using software tools used to support an Integrated Development Environment (IDE), including version control, defect reporting and scripting.
- Application integration patterns knowledge using Java EE technologies, including developing APIs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Innately organized and exceptionally detail oriented.
- Comfortable with communication with clients and vendors when required.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and prioritize time to meet all deadlines
- Expert at independently identifying and solving data-related problems
