Role: Sr Data Modeler

Location: North Houston, TX

Duration: 6+ months

 

Job Description:

 

 

Data stabilization

·         ETL/DTS – moving exceptionally large amounts of data

·         Aggregation of data

·         Creating data views and object scripts

·         Strong background in transactional data

·         Oracle and big data experience preferred

 

SQL Server 2014

·         SQL Server 2008, 2012, 2014 application development experience.

·         Proficient in TSQL Scripting.

·         Experience with SQL Reporting Services (SSRS), including data-driven subscriptions.

 

ETL (SSIS)

·         Manage the development of ETL logic to meet business requirements for reporting and analytic databases.

·         Analyze and translate functional specifications and change requests into technical specifications along with the development, testing and implementation of ETL program logic.

·         Analyze data sources, requirements and business rules, perform logical and physical data modeling, write prototype SQL to prove data transforms, write specs for ETL development, implement and test database design.

·         Be able to design, develop, deploy, maintain, monitor, and tune SSIS ETL solutions to incrementally load Enterprise Data Warehouse and Enterprise reporting systems.

·         Develop logical and physical data models, metadata definitions and models, queries and reports.

·         Advice on detailed design for ETL and data allocation functions.

·         Design and develop solutions that identify data issues and report errors for further analysis.

·         Work with Data Architects to instill industry best practices and generally accepted procedures.

·         C# or similar application development experience.

·         Strong understanding of RDBMS concepts.

 

Data modeling

·         Reverse engineer source system data structures.

·         Collaborate with Data Architects for data model management and version control.

·         Conduct data model reviews with project team members.

·         Capture technical metadata through data modeling tools. 

·         Generate, modify and version data object scripts (DDL).

·         Collaborate with application teams to create data landing and staging structures as well as source to target mapping documents.

·         Collaborate with application and services teams to design databases and interfaces which fully meet business and technical requirements.

·         Experience designing data model solutions for various transactional and/or analytical databases.

·         Strong data analysis skills.

·         Experience with data modeling tools, such as ERStudio.

·         Previous experience with SQL and other database access tools and methods.

·         Effective oral and written communication skills.

·         Experience with Agile.
