Senior Network Engineer
- SUMMARY: Senior Network Engineer. You are responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of our fast growing network infrastructure. This role reports to the Manager, Networks and Unified Communications and serves as a member of the broader IT Infrastructure team that is responsible for solution designing and deploying scalable, maintainable, and highly available infrastructure solutions to support business objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
MANAGEMENT
○ Lead efforts in planning, solution designing and implementing WAN/LAN cybersecurity network solutions that align with corporate business plans.
○ Recommend and enforce WAN/LAN and network cybersecurity policies, standards, processes, and procedures.
○ Drive network capacity planning efforts.
○ Assist management and architecture teams in setting direction for the Enterprise WAN and LAN and network cybersecurity services.
○ Provide 3rd level support and coordinate with supplier personnel in engineering support of this activity when required.
○ Act as an in-house subject matter expert to other IT functional areas providing guidance and direction in determining network infrastructure requirements.
○ Maintain close contact with other IT functional areas to ensure successful product and service launches requiring network solutions.
○ Interface with various suppliers to identify and recommend hardware and software to facilitate service or system upgrades.
○ Participate in the creation of budgets in those areas directly related to the WAN/LAN and network cybersecurity infrastructure.
○ Look for ways to automate repetitive and redundant tasks to improve network organization efficiency and response time.
○ Monitor network performance and utilization. Recommend, or proactively act, to assure requirements for continuity of service and system response time service levels are met.
○ Provide advanced technical skill in troubleshooting network problems, taking corrective action or interfacing with the appropriate equipment manufacturers to resolve issues.
○ Configure and maintain WAN and LAN core network devices in support of routing requirements and traffic management.
○ Create and maintain WAN and LAN topology documentation.
○ Contribute as needed to resolving day-to-day network problems.

○ Provide WAN/LAN and network cybersecurity technical infrastructure project management in support of new location acquisitions, openings, expansions, and relocations.

○ Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration problems
○ Provide high-level administration and consultative support
SAFETY
○ Ensure that all injuries are immediately documented and called in to Human Resources Department.
○ Participate in on-going safety training.
○ Ensure that work areas are kept clean and safe and that employees operate under safe working conditions.
○ Comply with any safety directives when working in production environments.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Indirectly manage the work of vendors to ensure proper quality and timeliness of work.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ○ Extensive knowledge of WAN/LAN protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Ethernet, RIP, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, others) and industry best practices regarding WAN and LAN design and deployment.
○ Advanced network cybersecurity experience which includes network segmentation, NGFW, IDS, IPS and 802.1X
○ Experience with Cisco and Fortinet IOS architectures.
○ Experience with Aerohive or Extreme Networks equipment and IOS architectures is desirable.
○ Previous work experience maintaining a geographically diverse large node count network environment with high uptime requirements highly desirable
○ Knowledge of SD-WAN, LAN,WAN, Data Center implementations
○ Ability to communicate with business unit personnel and other functional area personnel in non-technical terms.
○ Ability to be on call 24 x 7 x 365.
○ Experience in working SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS environments
○ Experience working with automated deployment scripts and tools for system provisioning and configuration
○ Experience scripting in PowerShell, Python, Perl or other similar languages
○ Experience with software defined networks and infrastructure-as-code using cloud specific toolsets such as Terraform ( is a plus)
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
○ Minimum 6 -- 8 years of WAN/LAN and network cybersecurity experience with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent education and experience.
○ Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
○ ITILv3 Certification or experience working in an ITIL environment preferred.
