Skill Importance Required 

-Experience designing and building web sites, including sites powered content management systems. Required 7 Years

-Ability to create wireframes, storyboards and HTML prototypes that help guide our clients to the right decision. Required 7 Years

-Working knowledge of HTML5/CSS3, JSON, and JavaScript, and how to use them together client-side. Required 7 Years

-Proven history of UX Design that’s focused on end user tasks on a variety of screen sizes. Required 7 Years

-Some knowledge of client-side tempting tools like Handlebars, Angular, Bootstrap. Required 7 Years

-Proficiency with Photoshop, Illustrator, and wireframe creation tools. Required 7 Years

-Proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript. Required 7 Years

-Proficiency with modern text editors like Visual Studio or Sublime. Required 7 Years

-Experience with Git and source control. Required 7 Years

 

Description: 

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking an Expert Level UI & Front End Designer contractor for an approximate 12-month engagement on a variety of projects, including the DMV On-Board Diagnostics Project, assigned to the NCDOT Web Services Team.  This resource will be responsible for designing and developing visual designs and interfaces for our North Carolina citizens, employees, and business partners. This resource will be dedicated to multiple projects. 

• Consult with customers and project managers to ensure implementation is on track to meet expectations.

• Design mockups, storyboards, and wireframes, using tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, and Balsamic Mockups.

• Ensure designs adhere to established state brand design template, DOT’s own look and feel, and best-practice design patterns.

• Develop responsive, accessible, online experiences with HTML, CSS and JavaScript

• Assist with reviews (design, code, etc.) and make recommendations for required changes and suggestions for improvement.

• Work directly with backend developers to create the fastest possible load-times with responsive user interfaces.
