Position Title: Application Architect Level III (Java Architect)
Position Location: McLean
Rate: $80

Description:
The
ideal candidate will be able to jump right into a Maven / Spring MVC or a
NodeJS/Express project and be able to start applying best practice for
completing the project. We looking for someone who can design on their own a
service platform for feeding complex RESTful / JSON data types to mobile
applications. Strong front end HTML, CSS skill also highly desirable for
contributing to Hybrid type mobile applications. Not sponsoring for this role
at this time. Looking for a strong character who is very assertive and
articulates technology well. They need to understand the buzz words not just
say / use them. This person should have a focus on performance and needs to
know how to build a complete applications from the DB through to the front end
work with nothing more than a conceptual understand and visual designs as
needed.
Responsibilities:
- Driving project/service delivery.
- Performing as technical lead on software development projects with
responsibility for overall delivery of software components.
- Collaborating with other platforms tech leads to ensure integrated end-to-end
design
- Documenting design decisions and ensuring adherences
- Enforcing existing process guidelines
- Mentoring junior developers
- Supporting QA during testing, and oversight during implementation into
production.
- Conducting design & code reviews
- Tracking developers’ bandwidth to assist in resource allocation.
- Supporting PM in technical tasks & delivery schedule development
- Reviewing system test scenarios & test cases.
- Monitoring operating efficiency of existing application systems.
- Providing oversight to Vendor’s technical design and code delivery
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent certification, or military experience
- At least 5 years development experience in the following Technologies /
Tools:
– Java / J2EE Container technology
– SOA / ESB / Web Services
– Unix / Shell Scripting
– NodeJS and Javascript ES6
– Database Technologies, i.e. Postgres / RDBMS
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as senior developer in IT projects leading developers
- Spring framework (3.2 and above) including security module
- REST (Jersey)
- Functional programming languages (Clojure, Clojurescript, Scala)
- Familiarity with AWS Cloud technologies
- Mocking framework for Unit testing - Mockito, EasyMock, Powermock
- Tomcat 7+
- Eclipse IDE or equivalent Editor
- Maven or ANT
- Git
- Oracle BPEL or any other BPEL / BPMS Development experience
- UML Modeling Tool, Eclipse IDE, Visio,
- XMLSpy / Tools for WSDL / XSD / XPATH / XQUERY mgmt
- JUNIT / SOAPUI / Web Service Test Tools
- Sun Certified Java Programmer/Developer, Oracle (Weblogic) SOA Suite, Spring
framework certification
- Performance Testing and tuning experience with Java, Spring framework, Oracle
SOA
5+ years experience with Financial Services clients
Oversight
Coordinating others work while involved with multiple work streams
Related experience
3-5 years prior application development experience
Capital One Experience Desired
Demonstrated experience with large scale application integration efforts
Have participated in more than 5 Agile projects
Communication - Ability to communicate strategies and processes around data
modeling and architecture to cross functional groups and senior levels
Ability to influence multiple levels on highly technical issues and challenges
Demonstrated experience to influence and coordinate third parties and suppliers
