Position: Teradata Data Modeler

Location: Dallas, TX

Duration: 6 - 12+ Months

Rate: $Open/hr on W2 only

 

Only locals need in-person interview

 

The key is Teradata Data Modeling using Inmon methodology for Normalized Relational Teradata platforms

1) 4+ years of experience with relational normalized Teradata data modeling

 

2) 4+ years of experience with Logical and Physical modeling

 

3) 4+ years of experience with requirement gathering 

 

Job Description:

 

• Gather requirements from business users and analysts, and perform requirement analysis
• Convert requirements into logical design and present it to the business user
• Perform data profiling of source data destined to the Warehouse to point out any data quality issues
• Forward engineer logical data model to physical data model
• Present physical data model for architecture peer review
• Maintaining versions of data models in the repository server
• Produce DDLs to be sent to Application and Warehouse DBAs for table, column and index creation
• Produce Source to Target Mapping document for the ETL process specification 
• Assist ETL with business rules to incorporate into ETL load logic
• Assist Business users, Analysts, ETL, and BI team in understanding the data model
• Perform performance tuning by suggesting columns to be indexed based on the context of the columns and validating results by using SQL queries for testing 
• Diagnose and resolve production load issues as reported by ETL 

 

Additional Information:

 

This is a position that emphasizes Relational / Normalized / Inmon Methodology modeling within Teradata, and it is definitely NOT a dimensional / Star Schema / Kimball methodology position.
