An upcoming vegetables and fruits processing enterprise partly owned by youth farmers and based in Mutoko is looking for enthusiastic board members with a passion for the growth of youth owned enterprises and economic development of Mutoko district to be part of its Board Members on a volunteer basis.  Most preferably these board members must be based in Mutoko or surrounding districts. The main role of the Board Members will be to provide oversight and assist the management in the running of the business.

Commitment
Board members are required to attend at-least three (3) full board per year and attend other sub-committee meetings if necessary.

Qualifications and Experiences Required
1. A Zimbabwean registered lawyer with an interest in commercial and company law and able to assist the company to operate legally and adhere to all statutory requirements.
2. A successful businessman or farmer based in Mutoko who is able to provide sound business advice to the enterprise.
3. A manager/senior person from one of the banks based in Mutoko.

Communications Intern: International Labour Organisation (ILO)

Background
The ILO Country Office for Zimbabwe and Namibia provides strategic oversight and guidance on world of work issues to the countries under its coverage. The Country Office is seeking a Communications Intern to help promote ILO work and messages, as well as monitor its communications activities and impact among targeted audiences and the general public. The Office also undertakes communications initiatives on behalf of the ILO’s global communications unit in Geneva and liaises with the Regional Office for Africa in Abidjan. The Office’s communications and advocacy work relates to key issues and themes of the ILO turning 100 years, the Decent Work Agenda, the ZimbabweWorking campaign and its promotion and implementation through projects and programmes.

The intern will report to the Communications Officer. The intern will support activities relating to communications, advocacy and media, including social media.

Research Study on violence against Children with Disabilities: J F Kapnek Trust
Deadline: 4 March 2019


Established in 1986, the J F Kapnek Trust is a registered (PVO 1/86) not-for profit organisation with special focus in improving health, education protection outcomes for children particularly those with disabilities through implementation of scalable and sustainable community based programmes in rural and urban districts of Zimbabwe. Over the years the organisation has been implementing specific disability programmes utilising various government departments as entry points of service provision to children with disabilities. Kapnek disability programme has interventions that seek to address both the health, education and protection concerns for children with disabilities and in all its efforts, the organisations seeks to strengthen the government systems through the provision of technical and financial support to enable access to disability friendly and accessible services to all children in need. Through its work, the JF Kapnek realised that there is dearth in evidence on disabilities in Zimbabwe particularly on the extent to which CWD are exposed to violence and abuse as well how the various response systems are positioned to address the specific needs of CWD affected by violence.

The organization requires the services of a consultant (s) to conduct research to generate empirical evidence that will feed into policy and practice, particularly in the areas of child protection and justice systems, further enhancing access to quality services within the broader social protection sector for the disabled children and young women in Zimbabwe.

Proposed Methodology and Timeline
The organization proposes among other things the following methodologies: Review of key national documents and protocols, review of the monitoring data collected during the project; Interviews with project staff; Interviews with the direct beneficiaries or their representatives thereof; case reviews ;random interview of court users or their representatives thereof; interviews with selected service providers in the child protection and justice systems; participatory focus group discussions with Adolescents with disabilities and community based volunteers working with children; Observations such as court sit ins. The study is expected to take 30 days upon which draft report will be available for validation.

Main Responsibilities

Qualifications

Essential
At least 7 years of experience in development cooperation with verifiable references in the NGO sector; Substantial experience working in Zimbabwe with a particular and solid understanding of the country agricultural, cultural, economic, institutional and political context; Substantial experience in livestock sector, especially goat value chain development; Proactive aptitude in building and managing partnerships with different bodies and institutions (including profit organizations); Strong experience in representing an organization with partners, government agencies, private sector organizations and donors at relevant level; Strong experience in community rural development, with focus on livestock; Previous experience in managing projects funded by international donors; Experience in working with the private sector to develop inclusive viable business; Languages: first class communication skills in Shona, Ndebele and English; Report writing skills (narrative and technical); Strong facilitation, negotiating and problem solving skills; Clean Class 4 Driving license with at least 3 years driving experience and defensive driving certificate.

Desirable
Track record in developing profitable business relations in the context of similar projects; Strong leadership skills and previous experience in team building and conflict resolution; Previous experience in managing EU funded projects: sound knowledge of EU procedures, tools and implementation standards, including project cycle management and LF; Knowledge of M&E tools.

Requirements
A minimum of 6 years’ project related experience is required together with a relevant degree and a Masters in Rural Development, Agricultural Economics, Animal Science, Value Chain Development, Agricultural Extension, Agribusiness or a related field.

Other Competencies
Experience in managing donor-funded development projects of a comparable size (+6 Million); Experience in value chain analysis of livestock and meat production systems for quality livestock and meat marketing; Demonstrated expertise in building and maintaining relationships with government officials, donors, community stakeholders, partner organisations and private-sector service providers; Demonstrated leadership skills, specifically team performance management.

The postholder will ensure project monitoring and verification across all consortium partners. He/she will strengthen the capacity of the M&E team and wider project implementation staff on implementation of monitoring tools and data collection procedures. The M&E Manager will support consortium members in establishing their M&E practice and reporting systems and provide technical assistance to improve their understanding of project evaluation. He/she will oversee project activities to ensure that they are in alignment with donor requirements.

Requirements
Degree in Mathematics/ Economics/ Statistics or related field, and Masters in related field will be an added advantage; Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role, consortia experience advantageous.

Key Competencies
Expertise in M&E planning methodology; Capacity to support project design activities including implementation of theories of change; Development of M&E plan; Helping determine performance and impact indicators and targets.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant field. MBA advantageous; Minimum of six years’ experience in a similar role, Exposure to NGO sector highly advantageous.

Degree in Agriculture (preferably majoring in Livestock), Agriculture economics, Agribusiness, Animal Science, agricultural marketing and/or value chain development. Program Description
TechnoServe is implementing a coffee agronomy training program that seeks to improve incomes for 400 coffee farming households in Manicaland Province by increasing their coffee farm productivity. This will be achieved by promoting improved coffee agronomic practices at the farm level through a two-year structured and farm-based training program based on the coffee growing cycle. The training will be conducted by locally recruited and trained Farmer Trainers (FTs).  It is expected that up to 50% of the trained farmers will adopt at least 50% of the best practices.

Position Description
The Agronomy Advisor shall support the implementation of strategies that will enable farmers to achieve sustainable increases in coffee quality and yields.

Duties & Responsibilities
Supervise 5 Farmer Trainers (FTs); Prepare and submit weekly work plan and monthly training schedules; Collect and review weekly training plans, farm visit and attendance data from FT’s. Ensure completeness, accuracy and clarify of data prior to submission for processing; Clearly communicate goals and roles and responsibilities to Farmer Trainers; Provide feedback, coaching and development activities related to performance management; Develop a team spirit among all reports; Model monthly agronomy training to FTs at local training demonstration plots; Prepare and ensure all training materials reach FT’s in a timely manner; Observe full training delivered to farmers by assigned Farmer Trainers (FTs); Check attendance forms, ensure reported data is accurate, clear and complete; Complete training observation assessment on tablet and give feedback and coaching to the FT; Visit randomly selected farmers, discuss training, farmer adoption and challenges and complete best practice check list on tablet; Create a good working relationship with stakeholders and manage quarterly update meetings with local stakeholders including ward, district and provincial; Lead and manage the expansion of the agronomy program into a new operational area including needs assessment, stakeholder sensitization, farmer mobilization, group formation and recruitment of FTs; Be a program ambassador at the operational area; Provide translation and contextualization services to high-level visitors; Spearhead efforts in making the agronomy program more gender inclusive and conflict sensitive using local customs etc; Provide support to the Coffee Program Manager as required.

Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agribusiness, Crop science, Horticulture or related agricultural sciences. May accept diploma and more than five years’ experience in lieu of Degree; At least three years’ professional experience – ideally in the private sector – in one or more of the following areas: agriculture, small and medium enterprise development, farmer associations or cooperatives, project management, financing, engineering, community development; Clean class four (4) drivers’ licence, more than 5 years driving experience; Strong planning abilities; prior experience working to tight and strict deadlines; Ability to lead a team and work collaboratively within a team; prior experience managing direct reports; Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills, Willingness to spend significant time in rural areas; Experience working with farmers is essential; Experience working in the project location and knowledge of Manicaland Province are essential; Experience and knowledge in coffee will be an added advantage

Technical Support Officer - Capacity Building (CB): Local NGO

Job Purpose
The job is in support of the organization’s strategic focus on Institutional and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) capacity strengthening. The job entails (1) identifying capacity strengthening opportunities for CSOs and links them with resource systems and (2) strong component on health and community systems strengthening. Through the initiative the organization will collaborate closely with the private sector, policy makers, legislators, media, donors and CS.

Basic Function
The Capacity Building Officer will be the focal point for all Capacity Building (CB) and Partner engagement work within the organization. Mobilizing, organizing and facilitating capacity strengthening initiatives to ensure CSOs have (1) technical skills to conceptualize, plan, organize and implement cutting edge health programs and (2) institutional operational capacities in the areas of governance and management.

Major Activities of the Job
To work closely with CSOs and partners to provide appropriate guidance and managerial support to implement CB initiatives in line with the organizational CB objectives; To facilitate all CB activities especially those related to CSOs capacity strengthening and engagement; To prepare mid-term and final reports on CB at the same time ensure narrative reporting and financial accounting meet organization’s and donor’s requirements; Strengthen relations with CSOs and community groups, including FBOs and private sector representatives to influence local and national actions on CB in tandem with CB strategy; Contribute to fundraising and resource mobilization initiatives, including assisting in the writing of proposals to continuously grow and expand the CB portfolio and support the organization’s CB work; Lead and facilitate relevant capacity building and support for project partners and CS based on capacity building plans; Ensure an effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning (documentation of best practices) on CB and related organizational initiatives in the region; To compile monthly Monitoring and Evaluation report for civil society; To provide regular feedback to the Head, on activities undertaken.  This includes formal and informal discussions and well as regular reports.

Education, Experience and Key Competencies
A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar or related role with a strong bias on CB, Advocacy and/ or M/E; A University Qualification in Social Work, Development Studies, or any social science is a must. A Masters Degree is an added advantage; Past working experience on health interventions, working with a broad array of CSOs especially in coalitions and or networks; Awareness and Understanding of the CSO landscape in Zimbabwe, especially locating the role of FBOs and Community Groups in the health sector; Strong M/E background especially understanding theories of change; Sound understanding of capacity needs of CSOs, social accountability and social policy analysis; Experience of preparing project documentation notably internal and donor narrative and financial reports, programme updates, budgets, contracts, case studies; Experience of convening different actors, building alliances, networking around issues to deliver greater change; Experience of undertaking high level representation to influence government, donor and agency policy and practice; Experience conducting desk studies and reviews (comparative) and produce quality assessment reports; Resource mobilization skills - ability to develop winning funding proposals; Good relationship and team management skills; Excellent interpersonal skills.
