Hey,
I installed AutoRemote for Windows but I cannot add my device. When I try, it says "Invalid device URL" but I am 100% sure that the URL is correct. It also works via my browser. Any ideas?

Hi!

The URL you are using on the AutoRemote Desktop app is the goo.gl/xxxxxx one? Not the autoremotejoaomgcd.appspot.com right?

I'm having the same problem, I enter it in perfectly. It works on my browser but not on the desktop client.

I'm trying to replicate this situation but can't seem to do it.
Are you able to send messages from your personal page? Does your Android device receive them?

I can send messages on my personal page. It appears the Chrome app is working for me as well because I am able to share websites to Chrome from my phone. I am wondering if it could be because I'm on Windows 8.

I use Windows 7, so I don´t think it´s a specific Windows 8 issue. Again, when I send a message via my browser, it works perfectly fine.

Here's a test i did might help you out
When entering my device URL and name it shows the error immediately , But when I enter a random name and URL eg : goo.gl/aBc12
It takes sometime to show me that i'v entered wrong device URL , which means i believe that my pc can send that data to AutoRemote server
But for some reason it returns with that error .. maybe a server-side problem ?

I seem to be having the exact same problem. Windows 7. Open the AutoRemote .exe, click Add, enter the exact URL and get the "Invalid Device URL" error.

Ok, I figured out what's wrong.

To work around this, go to the settings tab and select an IP address from the IP Address combobox (even if it's already selected).
This should make it work.

I'll update the app later today to fix this.

I've released an update for the AutoRemote desktop app to make this problem go away. Let me know if it did. :)

I encountered the same problem. Device to device communication seems works, but I cannot add any device to my PC; trying to add a device yields the following error:
"Can't add device. Invalid personal URLUne exception s'est produite lors d'une requête WebClient." Upon closing that dialog box, a second one pops up :
"Invalid device URL".

Selecting the only available IP address in the combo box under the Settings tab didn't do anything. Running the latest version (downloaded from https://dl.dropbox.com/u/9787157/AutoRemote/setup.exe yesterday (Feb. 21)) in Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bits.

Aaaaaaand I've managed to make it work! Running the AutoRemoteDesktop.exe with elevated privileges fixes the issue. It was a pain in the back to find this evasive little .exe (hidden somewhere in the local appdata tree), but hey, at least it seems to be working.
