I have a couple of tickets For the Festival of Trees a great fundraiser for the Family Crisis Center here in Bastrop. This year’s Festival of Trees is November 20th, 2010 at 6:00 p.m., and will be held at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa located at 575 Hyatt Lost Pines Road, 7 miles west of Bastrop and 20 minutes from the Austin Airport on Hwy. 71. I would like to award them to you. Then you can go to this fabulous party, enjoy some great food and drinks. For a donation of $10.00 to the Crisis Center, I will put a ticket in a drawing for the pair of tickets. I will have the drawing on November 6 at the First Friday Reception at my studio. I have been a volunteer with the Crisis Center since February of 1997 and have raised a few dollars at my shows raffling off tickets, usually for paintings. You can buy as many chances as you want! You can buy them at my studio/gallery or on-line on my blog, link in the right hand column at
http://jocastilloartblog.com The tickets are $55 each and available by calling the Family Crisis Center at

November 2, 2010 - November 29, 2010 I will have two paintings in the Austin Pastel Society exhibit at the Northwest Hills Gallery for the month of November. “She’s My Sister” and “Summer Aspens” are entered. Eve Larson is the juror. It is a beautiful show with some of the area’s finest pastelists, approximately 50 paintings. It is amazing to see how much more alive paintings are than photos on the

I will be painting a landscape in pastels with the theme of how to get light in your pastel paintings. I will talk some about marketing and presence on the internet including hand outs. The day includes my demo, lunch with the Art Guild members and guests. Artists can then try out painting with pastels after lunch for an hour or two. I hope the demonstration will be very interactive and not just a monologue. I always have an adventure when I travel so come share in the adventure!

I would like to mention the
Revel concerts. Joel Becktell on the cello and Carla McElhaney on the piano, fantastic classical musicians, put on great concerts in Austin. The concerts are casual and fun.
I met Joel first, in Magdalena, New Mexico, of all places. Both musicians are so talented and sharing. Attend one of their concerts for an evening of pure enjoyment.
