Greetings from Javed Abidi Foundation (JAF)!
JAF seeks to embody the “never say never” spirit of the man who worked very
hard to change the world for people with disabilities in India and
globally. Other than the spirit he had numerous qualities. His integrity,
courage, work ethic and attitude towards adversity are qualities that JAF
wishes to imbibe, protect and propagate among youth, particularly raising
the bar for advocacy on non discrimination and access to information and
services.
With this intent, JAF is hosting its first Strategic Partnership Training
and Consultation in collaboration with Disability Rights India Foundation
and Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative.
Target Audience: Delhi NCR based Students and Young Professionals (2-5
years of work experience)
Objective: Have an improved understanding of our rights and entitlements as
per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and how to use the
Right to Information Act, 2005 as an effective tool to monitor its
implementation and progress.
Dates: June 8 to 10, 2019
Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (sharp)
Venue: International Youth Hostel, 5 Nyaya Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi
(Nearest Metro Stations - Central Secretariat and Lok Kalyan Marg)
The three-day activity based training will broadly cover the following
topics:
- Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016
- Right to Information Act, 2005
- Entitlements, Schemes and Services
- Disability as a cross-cutting issue
I am reaching out to request you to nominate two young persons with a
disability or any one person without a disability who is interested in
mainstreaming disability in their work as a cross-cutting issue. Please
send in their nominations (with any accessibility requirement they may
have, to attend the training) before or definitely by Monday, May 27,
2019.
For any query with regard to this invite, you can reach me directly on this
